The IDBB specifications presently lack real-life examples or case studies. These additions could provide practical insights and assist in preempting potential implementation issues.

Description

Despite the extensive guidelines provided in the IDBB specifications, the absence of real-world examples or case studies may limit the practical understanding of implementation processes and potential challenges.

Recommendations:

  1. Expand Use of Practical Examples and Case Studies: Consider integrating more real-world examples and case studies into the IDBB specifications. This can help in making the guidelines more comprehensive and pragmatic.

  2. Balance Synthetic Guidelines with Practicality: Although keeping the guidelines synthetic is essential for readability and simplicity, infusing them with real-world scenarios can significantly enhance their practical applicability. Strive to strike a balance between the two.

  3. Case Studies Repository: If including case studies in the main document makes it unwieldy, consider creating a separate repository of case studies and practical examples. These can serve as supplementary resources and can be updated continuously based on new experiences and findings.

  4. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage stakeholders who have applied IDBB specifications in real-world scenarios to contribute their experiences, insights, and even challenges. This can contribute towards an evolving, shared knowledge base that benefits all users of IDBB.

  5. Regular Updates: Update the IDBB document regularly to include new examples or case studies as and when they become available. This will ensure that the document remains relevant and is in line with the latest experiences and challenges in implementing IDBB.

Jaume feedback: this is time to time done, as IDBB needs to be synthetic we focus on delivering the guidelines based on our experience.

Whilst the GovStack project began life creating specifications without formal use-cases, this is no longer the case and more and more of the work is being reviewed in the context of the use-cases being developed in conjunction with countries in which partners of the GovStack project are currently working in. See for those that are already published, with many more in development. These are now used for driving the content added/changed in specifications.

There is also now a regular publishing framework in place for releases for the use-cases and specifications over the coming years.

Given the combination of these two pieces of work, I think the valuable feedback here is covered in the work we are doing across thew project and I’m closing the issue, with thanks.

While Jaume's feedback acknowledges the inclusion of examples or case studies on an occasional basis. This response reveals that while there is an awareness of the value these inclusions can provide, the focus of IDBB has been primarily on the delivery of guidelines based on their experience.

The feedback indicates a potential trade-off between maintaining a synthetic, streamlined specification and providing detailed, practical insights through examples and case studies. The use of real-life examples or case studies, however, could enhance the IDBB's practical applicability and usability. This could enable better anticipation and management of potential implementation pitfalls, thereby enriching the overall quality and usefulness of the IDBB specifications.
