User Test Script

Final script for the “real” user tests.

Hi, _____________. My name is ___________, and I’m going to be walking you through this session today.

Before we begin, I have some information for you, and I’m going to read it to make sure that I cover everything.
You probably already have a good idea of why we asked you here, but let me go over it again briefly. We’re asking people to try using a product that we’re working on so we can see whether it works as intended. The session should take about one hour.

First we want to make you little bit familiar with Govstack than we’ll go with a product we want to test with you and after that we’ll have a few questions for you.

The first thing I want to make clear is that we’re testing our product, not you. You can’t do anything wrong. We’d like you to explore the product freely and share your thoughts with us, so please speak out loud during the session.

LEGAL

  • Do you have any questions about the recording process or what will happen to the recording afterwards?

START RECORDING

  • Do you have any objections about us recording this session, including your voice and face or my colleague taking notes on the side?

Warm-Up questions

  • What is your name and age?

  • Could you please tell us about the tasks of your job and your job title?

  • Did you participate in User Tests before?

  • Do you have any previous knowledge about GovStack?

  • How do you usually learn about new technologies?

  • What are some of the challenges you face when it comes researching new technologies?

Set the stage:

Let me set the stage for the next 30-45 minutes.

Imagine you work for a state, and your role involves digitising existing services to push the digitalisation for your government as simple and cost-effective as possible. You'll be exploring GovStack, a technology/service that could potentially help you achieve this goal.

To get started, please open the landing page, which my colleague will provide in the chat. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the page.

While doing so, feel free to scroll around, but please avoid clicking on anything just yet.
Also, please think out loud, so we can better understand your thought process.

Do you have any questions about this scenario?

ASK YOUR COLLEAGUE TO POST THE LINK AND THE PARTICIPANT TO SHARE THE SCREEN

Thank you! Let’s get started with the session. My colleague will share a link with you now and I would like to ask you please share your screen with us, so we can observe your interactions with the website.

Keep in mind that this is a clickable prototype, so not every button or link is working in this scenario. Please think out loud while doing that and explain what you are seeing what is your first impression
of the page. First I would like to set the stage and give you a scenario.

Onboarding Page

  • In your own words, what is the goal of this page and what does it try to explain?

  • What can and would you do here now?

  • What do you think will happen if you press to start the simulation?

  • Could you please start the simulation?

Tutorial

  • How helpful were the tips for you?

  • Is there a better way for you to help you understand the simulation?

Simulation

Experience the simulation and please share your thoughts with us.

General:

  • What is your first impression about it?

Please use the simulation freely and interact with it as you would do it normally.

Tasks:

  • How would you describe the goal of the simulation?

  • How do you feel about the Navigation?
(Let them explain the navigation & Ul elements, etc.)

  • Please describe in your own words – what is a building block?

  • How can you find out more about the information mediator (BB) and what is its role?

  • How would you describe the role of the building blocks for this page?

Context change:

  • What changed on the screen? Could you explain it in your own words.

  • What does this change indicate for you?

  • What would help you understand the contextual/perspective change?

Let them close the Simulation, stop the screen sharing.

End question:

  • How would you describe this product in your own words?

  • If this was a real website, how would you rate the technical maturity of this product? Were there any indications of this?

  • After experiencing the simulation - did you feel well introduced to the GovStack offer and approach?

Offboarding:

Thank you very much for these great insights and of course for taking the time to help us!

Do you have any questions or feedback for us?

Like I said, your input is very valuable to us! I hope you had some fun during this session, thanks again and have a great day.
