Simulation Release

Jira Ticket

SND-293: Define User Flow and dummy content for the current homepageDone

The Simulation should be put on the current GovStack Global homepage to gather some User Feedback for future Use Cases and to improve the release Simulation.

Please inform Ayush and Farina (it’s not mandatory but if possible include Janie as well, so she’s in the loop), as soon as the Simulation is developed by Priit and tested by Sandbox members, to release it as soon as possible. Also, please provide Ayush with the Simulation-Link.

Nice to know: Farina will run a LinkedIn campaign to highlight the simulation, I already gave her our screener details, but if she needs more input about the target audience please help her out with the empathy map.

The placeholder content and positioning proposal of the Simulation on the existing website is finished.

Design decisions are also explained on the dedicated Confluencepage.

GovStack Hompepage Simulation

Farina reviewed the content.

Putting the content on the current GovStack homepage is done by ITU.

Hosting

Information from Steve Conrad:

  1. UNF (which hosts the GovStack site – current and new) can also facilitate AWS hosting through their account – this is probably the best option, and I can work with Brian Young and team to help get that set up

  2. DIAL has a Digital Ocean account that we can use to host the sandbox – this is where the old/original GovStack demo was hosted

Priit has the contact information but I advise to have a meeting setup with all people involved.

If you run in any issues regarding the hosting, please contact Steve Conrad, Brian Young or Janie Hayes (jhayes@dial.global) to help get in contact with people in charge.

I don’t have an e-mail address from Brian but if you need it, please contact Steven.

Google Analytics

As discussed with Farina, Janie Hayes and Steve Conrad, the Sandbox Team will have access to the Google Analytics Tool, so that all the metrics will be captured and they can see the traffic of the GovStack page and Simulation.

The Access to Google Analytics has been requested for:

  • Jonas

  • Meelis

  • Priit

If more people need access, write a mail to Steve Conrad (sconrad@dial.global) with google associated email addresses and he’ll add them to Google Analytics.

@Jonas Bergmeier

Analytics Tools

Collected research of possible analytics tools.

Confluence page.

This could be necessary for getting Feedback at the end of the simulation or for further user research.

Simulation Black-box Testing

QA Ticket SND-297: QA - Basic testplan and test devicesDone

Close this ticket as soon as the Simulation is released.

The Simulation’s basics and Navigation should be tested with Desktop and Mobile devices.

All test relevant features and steps are explained in the Jira Ticket.

Bug Report workflow:

Jira Epic

For every new bug, create a sub ticket and assign it to Priit.

Add following description:

  • Device and Screensize

  • short explanation of the bug

  • if necessary a step-by-step description

  • add a screenshot or a gif

If possible, another tester should check if the issue got resolved correctly.

Do not forget to empty your cache

Good to know:

Keep in mind that the tests need to be conducted again after a bug fixes, to make sure it the deployed fix works but also that everything else works fine.

Feedback about the quality and improvement can also come from the GovStack Community, so only basic tests are required.

Do not forget to empty your cache every time you start a test!

Clearing the cache helps minimize such false interpretations and ensures more accurate test outcomes.

Explanation:

Avoid false positives or negatives: Cached data can sometimes lead to false positive or negative results during testing. For example, if a bug has been fixed but the cached version of the application still shows the old behavior, you might mistakenly assume that the bug is still present. If a bug still occurs but the cache displays a previous version without the bug, you might mistakenly assume that the issue has been resolved.

Sandbox QA

I briefly talked about QA in general with Meelis here are the meeting notes:

  • Community should test and give Feedback.
My suggestion: setup a confluence page with the relevant comments and discuss them with the stakeholders

  • Resources for testing are hardly available

  • UX can do QA testing their own concepts
My comment: this shouldn’t be a permanent solution, since it takes away time from other tasks

  • 3 people should test, one afternoon

  • Publish it on staging

  • GovStack has its own Test-partner for these tasks and we could maybe talk to them for future releases

Testing shouldn’t be a permanent task for the UX Designers, concepts are better tested if the person doesn’t know the concept details.

UX Documentation

SND-281: Integrate GitBook for documentation workflowDone

let Oleksii explain to you in detail, how to use GitHub.

Workflow

  • Create a Jira Ticket for each documentation & create a branch

  • Add a detailed description to the simulation and explain its purpose

  • Let another Teammember review the documentation before pushing it on the main branch

Oleksii initiated the idea that we could add our documentation to the DEV documentation, since it’s related to the sandbox.

Setup a GitHub account with your work address (if you don’t want to, you can use your private account) and ask Akseli to add you to the project.

We decided to use the GitHub documentation instead of GitBook since it would be too much. For the future, it could be possible to use the UX/UI GitBook from the UX Workgroup.

Please clarify this with Lawrence, if it would make sense in the future.

GovStack redesigned homepage

The onboarding page has been send to BitterSweet but no reply so far.

Janie already reviewed the page and she is aware, that it needs to be part of the new GovStack Global Homepage.
