The GovStack Regional Forum on Digital Government was organized on 28-29 March 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan, by ITU and NITEC at the invitation of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
With over 70 participants representing ten countries, the forum contributed to fostering knowledge exchange, enhancing technical capacity, and strengthening regional communities of practice in digital public transformation.
Senior representatives from national digital development teams convened to delve into discussions on digital public infrastructure, exploring key components such as data governance, proactive services, digital ID, digital wallet, information mediator, and consent.
The forum was built around a series of sessions dedicated to a detailed examination of the 'building blocks' of digital infrastructure.
Each session focused on a specific block, its components, and development and implementation practices. The sessions included: (1) an overview of GovStack specifications for a specific block, (2) a review of the experience of one or more participating countries in development and implementation, and (3) discussions aimed at identifying collaboration opportunities and innovative ideas.
As part of the country experience review, key components that helped enrich the dialogue included:
• Analysis of the approach to design and implementation,
• Technical review of the solution (how was the 'building block' implemented and how does it function?),
• and demonstration of the 'building block' and/or service based on it.
