On hardware requirements

NB! Only one central server is needed for the entire GovStack IM environment within a certain regional context. One central server will service and connect all the IM-BB components that would need to communicate within that region. One central server will easily support tens of thousands of IM-BB instances.

The sample implementation does deploy a minimal version of the solution with a central server and three security servers. Below we are giving a very general overview of the resource needs of the internal components. The goal of this page is not to document the current solution but to assist in resource planning for further implementations.

The central server (deployed once for the whole network of IM-BB's):

  • a 64bit dual-core processor with AES instruction set support

  • 2GB RAM

  • ~3GB of disk space for a basic install

Each security server would optimally require:

  • a 64bit dual-core processor with AES instruction set support

  • 4GB RAM

  • ~4GB of disk space for Ubuntu based basic install (more for logs), ~10GB for RHEL based install (log's can get intensive ~20GB is recommended)

other IM-BB components int total:

  • 2-4 cores of 64bit CPU

  • 4-8 GB of RAM

  • ~20GB of disk space
