Summary

A 45 minute workshop where we demoed existing standards and design systems and had an open discussion about needs.

Reflection

Attended by the Ministry of communications and technology from Somalia

A good user experience is important to the team, they are interested in how they integrate systems from across government into the service catalogue and that should be the starting point.

Their ambition is to train civil servants to handle digital services.

Things they could do:

Now: Collaborate with us to develop and feedback on standards

Next: Include documenting a styleguide and design components in the service catalogue RFP - supplier could deliver catalogue while following the standards.

Future: An in house team within ministry of communication and technology to support consistent delivery of services (maintaining standards and design patterns)

Feedback on standards

Each service will be built by suppliers

Feedback on patterns

It was good to hear that departments would be happy to adopt a unified visual design and that there are only currently about 200 digital services.

Would like to have more information about creating a styleguide, standardising how language is implemented,
